Wendy Bale is a multi-disciplinary artist and environmentalist in Jamestown, New York. Through her drawings and paper cuts, she tells stories about life in the wilds of Western New York and Pennsylvania. Through recent explorations in paper arts, she unearths new techniques in this diverse medium. Employing various styles from layered paper cuts to 3D paper sculpture, much of her art celebrates the versatility of paper.

“For my contribution to this exhibition, I chose colorful paper sculptures, including Rock Paper, a lesser-known medium. I sought to showcase several possible techniques using this pliable, mineral-based sheet. Regardless of the materials or method I’m using, my joy is to connect with the viewer through the mutual love of favorite nature subjects.”

A midwestern native, Wendy relocated to Jamestown in 2015 to finish out a long career in fashion catalog creative design. In the eight years that followed she has transitioned to full-time artist and enjoys contributing to the burgeoning art scene in the Jamestown area. You can see Wendy’s gallery work at Chautauqua Art Gallery in Jamestown, NY, and at Painted Finch in Corry, PA. She is a member of the Guild of American Papercutters, International Online Art Collective, North Shore Arts Alliance, and Pearl City Clay House.
