ArtScape Jamestown 2026

The Chautauqua Art Gallery and Pearl City Clay House are thrilled to sponsor the fourth year of ArtScape Jamestown. ArtScape features works by local artists, displayed on banners hung in downtown Jamestown, N.Y. ArtScape also includes a range of events throughout the summer. This May, it began with the show of original ArtScape pieces, hosted by Chautauqua Art Gallery and Pearl City Clay House. The show remained on display from May 21st - July 3rd 2026.

Also in May, the banners were hung downtown by the Jamestown Parks Department. These banners remain up throughout the year, with a walking tour available in brochure racks throughout the county and at the two sponsoring galleries. This is an excellent way for the Jamestown community to discover local artists of all ages.

ArtScape at the Farmers Market

The Chautauqua Art Gallery also periodically hosts a table at the Jamestown Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Those who visited the farmers market can stop by to check out some local art, make a button, buy a T-shirt, and participate in a Plein Air painting and drawing session. Artists can bring their supplies and create art in an outdoor environment around other creative individuals!

On Saturday, July 11th, the Jamestown Farmers Market hosted its second annual Artfest! This is an art-focused market event which highlights local artists selling their work. The work included paintings, pottery, sketches, prints, and more. Because of the markets close proximity to the art gallery, there was an abundance of different artwork, styles, and techniques for people to explore!

ArtScape goes beyond showcasing local artists and their work, it also provides an opportunity for those in the community to learn more about how the art was made. Pearl City Clay House hosted three ArtScape salons this summer, where ArtScape artists can discuss their process in an informal setting. This allows the public to gain a deeper understanding of their work and how it was created. It also builds connections between those in the local art community.

Some artists use this opportunity to provide a demo of how they create their artwork. Because the setting is casual, those attending had opportunities to watch closely and ask specific questions about their processes. The ArtScape Salon on July 12th featured three artists talks. Susan Simmons, Rachel Roushey, and Jim Vincent all discussed their process and showcased some of their pieces, fostering an informative and inspiring environment!
